Sarah Lederman (BA (Hons) Fine Art, Chelsea) is frequently noted in curatorial reviews as the emerging artist of 2008 to watch. Since graduating in 2008 Sarah Lederman has won the Catlin Painting Prize, was selectd by Kay Saatchi and Catriona Warren for ‘Anticipation’, and was nominated by Mark Wallinger for the Creekside Open, best London artist in 2009. Sarah Lederman’s paintings focus on the adolescent body to engage with and disrupt traditional representations of femininity. Lederman exploits the materiality and liquidity of paint to present the female body as fluid, free, sexual and uncontrollable. Sarah Lederman will be exhibiting in the Body In Women’s Art Now Part 2, curated by Philippa Found, at the New Hall Art Collection in April 2010 and at ROLLO Contemporary Art in May 2010.
